Strategically planning the packing for the next business or leisure trip will make certain sufficient clothing and accessories are available, while providing ample space in your bag to transport everything that one will need. Initially, one will want to plan out each day to determine how much will need to be packed. It is always better to pack less than more, since one can always find a store to purchase any item that may have been missed. In addition, if one over packs it will not provide sufficient space to transport home any gifts or souvenirs purchased. After thinking through what items to pack, determine if rolling or folding the clothing is beneficial.

If there is plenty of room in the suitcase, then folding your items is the way to go. Not only will the clothing stay wrinkle free but the weight of your bag will be minimal. Yet most need more space, so consider rolling items such as shorts, socks, synthetic T-shirts, and pajamas. The key to keeping wrinkles away is to smooth out the items prior to rolling them. Jeans take up a lot of room and should be folded in half lengthwise, and then rolled from the bottom or cuff.

Ultimately, choose softer garments to roll and items that are stiff to fold up. Once the items are rolled, arrange them on the bottom of your bag. A drying cleaning bag should be used to separate the tiers of clothing. The slippery surface of the bag will not permit clothing to stay in one place long enough to create wrinkles to set in. Stack the folded items on top of the rolled beginning with the heavier slacks. Then place the collar shirts on top of the slacks. Be certain to fold over the collars and the sleeves to conserve space.

Save space by wearing your heaviest pair of shoes. It is easier to find space for a casual sandal, loafer or sneakers in the luggage. By placing your shoes in a resealable plastic bag, one can keep them from damaging your clothing and prevent dirt from accumulating on your items. Take advantage of the space in your shoes by stuffing socks, smaller trinkets, sunglasses, or electronics charges in them. Next, the clothing on the top layer of the suitcase should be what one plans on utilizing once the destination has been reached such as pajamas or a bathing suit.

Prior to departure, be certain to check on the weather at your ultimate destination. If rain is not expected to be an issue, do not pack rain gear. If the temperatures are mild, do not take a bulky coat. Once your destination has been reached, take advantage of the hangers in the hotel room. Getting your pants and shirts immediately on a hanger will keep each wrinkle free. One will find that wrinkles accumulate more so on clothing when they are left in the luggage since most root through their garments and tote bags yet do not neatly restack the items.
